The Seville-based startup BioMixing S.L. has been selected as the winner of the fourth edition of ‘Connecting Energy’, an open innovation program launched by Naturgy to support technological solutions driving the energy transition.
BioMixing’s winning project introduces an advanced mixing system for bioreactors, designed to significantly improve operational efficiency in biogas production. Early testing suggests the technology can achieve up to a 50% reduction in energy consumption, while also shortening process times. The system is suitable for both new facilities—with optimized digester designs—and existing ones, by upgrading their current agitation systems.
As part of the award, BioMixing will receive €25,000 infunding and will collaborate with Naturgy to develop a pilot plant where the solution will be tested under real-world conditions to assess its performance and scalability.
‘Connecting Energy’ is an incubation program that combines financial support, expert mentoring, and strategic guidance from Naturgy professionals. Since its launch, the initiative has helped more than 40 startups grow through a collaborative innovation ecosystem focused on sustainability.
This recognition represents a major milestone in BioMixing’s journey to becoming a key player in biosolutions for the energy sector, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, efficiency, and decarbonization.
